About Me

Describe Yourself:My life is governed by love. I love the life of the writer, the person who seeks out the unknown, seeks to push out the words into the unimagined country, to live in the story. I love to capture my ideas and work as hard and long as I can to make it all the best. What better could I do with my life? I write, I paint, I create, I consume books and try to write my own. What better life could any of us ask for? May I observe that the cost of this life is so negligible that it is the one and single endeavor in this life in which any person any where--be it a person squatting over a laptop in Bali or a Swedish woman with three kids and a day job--all are equal. What can you write for me? What fruit can we bring from your brain.
Life, this one and only life that we get, my friends is so incredibly short and at the end of your life you will not wish you had kept a cleaner kitchen or some other things. You will wish, as will I at that moment when I claw my way into oblivion, that you had created more art, written more novels..., baked more bread. All of my writings can be found here: http://nebraskawriter.googlepages.com I decided I wanted to devote my life to writing in 1983. From that point on, I began a systematic study of fiction. This journey began with Hemingway who led me to other authors such as Ivan Turgenev, Leo Tolstoy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe, Stendhal, Charles Dickens, Homer and others too numerous to enumerate.
I have many other interests outside of writing. I speak fluent Russian, lived in St. Petersburg on my own for one year. I know the music of Mozart so well I can tell you the Kochel number of many pieces from the first few bars. I adore animals and go out of my way to care for feral cats, in particular. I like to spontaneously clean up the environment and have written articles on my experiences doing so in the Arizona desert. I have a network of friends over the United States.
I'm happy to report that on March 8, 2008 [International Women's Day], I commenced the actual long-fated second from scratch draft of my novel "The Butcher of Leningrad", which passed through drafts 1.0-1.22 before I came to the conclusion (with the help of a few agents), that I needed to start over from scratch. (The same way that my god Tolstoy did seven times with his magnificent novel "War and Peace" [Louise Maude translation only]. So, of my three main characters, only one is returning. I commenced on March 8th with one of brand new characters. It's good to be back in the saddle again... -

Other Affiliations:Many people are puzzled why a computer-savvy person such as myself would still choose to write on a manual typewriter. They observe that writing on a manual typewriter must be inherently slower than doing so on a computer., I know my choice is counter intuitive. Quality, not speed, is the goal. Writing on a manual typewriter facilitates quality., List of the Book Manuscripts I have Completed:, (though none have been published), Format is as follows:, 1 = title, 2 = genre, 3 = words, 4 = year completed, 5 = time to complete, 6 = daily work schedule, 7 = where written, day job at the time, First Novel, 1. Tom, thank you for the great comments on my content! You asked if it was quiet and peaceful at the lake. Yes, it really is. You can't believe how quiet and peaceful. However, that is the lake in the neighborhood where my best friend lives. It's about 45 min. from me down in Mississippi. Love driving down there for the day and just spending time and enjoying it.
Again, I really appreciate your comments. Have a great day!

Introducing Mr. Rick James - our modern day Mozart! I wonder what he would think about that. I wonder if Rick knows who Mozart was. lol I wonder if he realizes the super freaky influence he's had on us? :-)
